How to Train the Brain (3 Ways to Build Your Brand Guide)
This is the walkthrough. You already know what the brain is and why it matters — now you train it. The good news: your brain generates itself in seconds. Pick one of three paths (paste a link, answer 3 quick questions, or fill in each step manually), and you have a working brain ready to power MVA right away. From there, you can stop and start using MVA, or you can keep going and refine your brand voice, taglines, colors, and fonts so every piece of content sounds and looks even more like you. This article walks you through all three paths.
What you'll learn:
- What to have ready before you start
- How to open the Brand Guide wizard
- The three paths to build your Brand Guide (paste a link, answer 3 questions, or fill in manually)
- How to review what MVA captured about your business
- How to pick your taglines
- How to add your brand colors and fonts
- How to save and activate your trained brain
New here? If you have not read the overview article yet, start with Train the Brain: What Your Brand Guide Is and Why It Matters first. It explains what the brain is and why every part of MVA depends on it. This article is the click-by-click walkthrough that picks up where the overview leaves off.
Before You Start
To build your Brand Guide, you only need one of these:
- A website URL — if you want MVA to scan an existing site (Path A).
- A clear idea of your business — if you want to answer 3 quick questions (Path B).
- Time and your own words — if you want to fill in each section yourself (Path C).
That is enough. Pick your path and the rest takes seconds.
If you want to refine your brain past the auto-generation (which is what takes it from good to dialed-in), also have these handy:
- Your brand colors in hex codes if you know them (e.g., #48075b). If you do not have them, you can pick or upload them inside the wizard.
- Your logo file and any brand fonts you want MVA to use.
- A few notes on your brand voice — words and phrases you actually use, things you would never say, the tone you go for.
Step 1: Open the Brand Guide Wizard
- Log into your MVA dashboard.
- Find Brand Guide in your dashboard menu.
- Click to open the wizard.
The wizard will ask you which path you want to take.
Step 2: Choose Your Path
You have three ways to build your Brand Guide. The wizard will ask: "How would you like to get started? Choose your path to building your Brand Guide."
Path A: I Have a Link
Best for you if: You already have a website that reflects your real brand. MVA scans the link and pulls the key information automatically — the fastest way to a working Brand Guide.
Path B: Start from Scratch
Best for you if: You do not have a website yet, or your website is outdated, generic, or does not reflect what you actually offer. You answer 3 quick questions and MVA builds your Brand Guide from your answers.
Path C: Fill in Each Step Manually
Best for you if: You want full control over every word in your Brand Guide and prefer to write each section yourself instead of starting from AI-generated content. Hands-on, no shortcuts.
Not sure which to pick? If your website is current and on-brand, go with the link. If it is outdated or you do not have one yet, answer the 3 questions. If you want full control or have very specific copy in mind, fill in each step manually.
Step 3a: Train the Brain With a Link
- Click the I Have a Link tab at the top of the wizard.
- Paste your website URL.
- Click Build My Brand Guide.
- Wait while MVA reads through your site and pulls out the key information.
When MVA is done, you will have a first draft of your customer avatar, transformation, positioning, value propositions, and proposed taglines. You can stop here or keep going to refine.
Step 3b: Train the Brain From Scratch (3 Quick Questions)
- Click the Start from Scratch tab at the top of the wizard.
- Answer these three questions:
- What does your business do? (Example: I help overwhelmed agency owners automate their marketing.)
- Who do you help? (Example: Small business owners who are stuck doing everything themselves.)
- What makes you different? (Example: I focus on simple systems that don't require technical skills.)
- Click Build My Brand Guide.
MVA uses your answers to build your full Brand Guide from scratch — customer avatar, transformation, positioning, value propositions, and proposed taglines.
Be specific in your answers. "I help small business owners" is okay. "I help overwhelmed solopreneurs automate their marketing so they stop trading their life for a paycheck" is way better. The more specific you are, the better MVA understands your brand right out of the gate.
If you used Path A or Path B: Your brain is now generated. You can save it and start using MVA right now — skip to Step 7. Or you can keep going through Steps 4 to 6 to refine your brain so every piece of content MVA generates sounds and looks even more like you. The refinement is optional. Pick what fits your time today.
Step 3c: Fill in Each Step Manually
If you want full control — or your business is unique enough that the AI-generated starting point would just slow you down — you can skip the wizard entirely.
- At the bottom of the wizard, click the link that says Prefer to fill in each step manually?
- You will land in the Brand Guide editor with each section ready for you to fill in by hand.
- Fill in your customer avatar, transformation, positioning, value propositions, and taglines — one section at a time, in your own words.
- Save as you go.
Manual path note: Because you are writing each section yourself, you can skip Steps 4 and 5 below (those steps are about reviewing AI-generated content). Go straight to Step 6 to add your brand colors and fonts, then Step 7 to save.
Step 4: Review What MVA Captured
This is where both paths meet. MVA shows you what it pulled together about your business, organized into sections:
- Customer Avatar — Goals and Desires
- Customer Avatar — Pains and Fears
- Where Your Customer Is Right Now
- The Transformation They Want
- Your Positioning as the Solution
- Your Value Propositions
Read each section carefully. If something is wrong, edit it. If something is missing, add it. If a sentence feels off, rewrite it in your own words.
This is where you make it yours. The auto-generation gives you a working brain. Reading through and tweaking the sections that do not quite match your voice is what makes your output go from "okay" to "wow, that sounds like me." Spend time here if you have it — every piece of content MVA generates afterward will be sharper for it.
Step 5: Pick Your Taglines
MVA will generate a set of brand and identity taglines for you to choose from. These are short, repeatable phrases that capture how you sound and what you stand for.
- Read through the options MVA generated.
- Pick the ones that actually sound like you. Skip any that feel off, generic, or like they belong to someone else's brand.
- If none of the options fit, write your own and replace them.
You can use multiple taglines — different ones for different contexts (a short version for social, a longer version for your website, an identity line for your bio, and so on).
Step 6: Add Your Brand Colors and Fonts
This is the visual side of the brain. Every image MVA creates uses these to make sure your visuals actually look like your brand.
Brand colors:
- Add your primary brand color (the main color you use everywhere).
- Add your secondary color (the one you pair it with).
- Add any accent colors that are part of your brand palette.
- Use hex codes if you know them (e.g., #48075b). If you do not, pick from the color picker.
Brand fonts:
- Pick or upload the font you use for headlines.
- Pick or upload the font you use for body text.
- Save.
Step 7: Save and Activate Your Brain
- Once you have reviewed every section and made your edits, click Save.
- Confirm.
Your brain is trained. From this moment on, every workflow, email, social post, image, and chat response MVA generates pulls from this Brand Guide.
What Comes Next
With your brain trained, here is what to do next:
- Connect your partner system account with a PIT so MVA can push content directly into your account.
- Start using MVA. Go to the Workflow section and pick a topic. Watch how everything MVA generates now sounds like you and speaks to your audience.
- Revisit your Brand Guide any time your brand evolves.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it really take to train the brain?
The brain generates in seconds. You can be using MVA the moment the wizard finishes. If you want to fine-tune your brand voice, pick the taglines that fit best, and add your specific colors and fonts, plan on extra time — but that part is up to you. Refine now, refine later, or skip the refinement entirely. The auto-generation gives you a working brain either way.
Can I switch between the different paths?
Pick one path to start. Once your brain is in place, you can edit any section directly in the Brand Guide editor — so if you scanned and want to rewrite a section, or you answered the 3 questions and want to fix specific copy, you can do that anytime without starting the whole wizard over.
What if MVA gets something wrong about my brand?
Edit it. Every section is editable. The scan and the 3 questions are MVA's first guess — your review is what makes the brain accurate.
Do I have to pick a tagline from the options MVA gave me?
No. The options are starting points. If none of them sound like you, write your own and replace them.
What if I do not have brand colors or fonts yet?
Pick some. You can always update them later. Even rough placeholders are better than nothing — MVA needs something to work with so your images do not come out generic.
Can I train more than one brain?
That depends on your plan. Free and Starter plans allow a limited number of brands. The Solopreneur plan gives you unlimited brands so you can train a separate brain for each business or brand you run.
What if I want to start the whole thing over?
You can. Open your Brand Guide, clear what is there, and run the wizard again.
Will my changes save automatically as I go?
Save often as you work through the wizard. If you close the tab without saving, you may lose your edits. When in doubt, hit save before walking away.
